Editing Process and Creative Direction

We have recently started our editing process for our finalized short film and honestly,it's going fairly well. There really wasn't,so far,any real mishaps or any sort of obstacles that neither I nor my partner had faced.
To more elaborate,we had ended up using iMovie for our editing software because the software that I originally intended to use on my PC was not up to par with what I was looking for. Also, when you wanted to save a product on that original software,it would leave a large watermark on the video itself, which we absolutely did not want.In turn,we shifted toward iMovie which was surprisingly easy to use and very beginner friendly. I've never used any sort of editing software before, nor have I had to,but neither of us felt lost or confused by the accessibility.
Probably the most challenging part of the process was the color-correction of the video.Primarily in a part of our video where wee have our actress flip on a light switch, which completely changed our original color-correctional edits. In turn,we had to settle on a less "dramatic" filter, for lack of a better word.
Other than that and a few instances where we had to properly sync up some pre-recorded audio to match up with what was shown on screen, the overall editing process went very smoothly.Of course, after some feedback on our video,we went back and added in a few other insert shots to make the flow of the sequence a but more realistic (in terms of film standards) as well as tweaking a few things here and there,I believe what we had produced with the materials we had available is fairly good in its integrity and quality.

Since I couldn't come up with a good title for this to be its own post,I've decided to put this into this one, since it seemed the most appropriate. Here,I'd like to discuss some of the reasons why we decided to choose some of the creative aspects of the opening that we did.
Firstly,we wanted to choose a slightly grim style of color filter, for at least some of the shots in the title sequence, this way,it would reflect the whole idea of "highschool rom-com with elements of thriller/horror tropes" with not having the entire sequence be purely one or the other.
This is also apparent in the direction of the shots. That being both scenes of a normal highschool girl getting ready vs an unidentified, looming threat (represented in cutaway/insert shots).
